A festive and important milestone for the platform that was officially launched on September 29, 2021. For the occasion, we want to share a few numbers with you.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Overview of the platform subscribers<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Public school network: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Subscriber integrations were completed in majority in the fall of 2021.<\/li>\n<li>71 of the 72 school services centers and school boards in Quebec now have access to Biblius.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>1,200,000 students<\/strong><\/span> in preschool, elementary, secondary, vocational training and general adult education, or <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>99.8%<\/strong> of the students in the public school network<\/span> are now connected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Private schools: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Subscriber integrations started in the fall of 2022.<\/li>\n<li>63 private educational institutions now have access to Biblius:\n<ul>\n<li>63,101 students, i.e. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>50%<\/strong> of the students enrolled in a private educational institution<\/span> accredited for subsidy purposes by the minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9ducation (MEQ).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>First Nations schools not under agreement: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tshakapesh Institute and ITUM Education :\n<ul>\n<li>11 schools in total, just over <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>1600<\/strong> students<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Subscriber integrations completed in the fall of 2022<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>First Nations Education Council (FNEC) :\n<ul>\n<li>24 schools, close to <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>5900<\/strong> students<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Progressive deployment is underway in a few schools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>A few numbers\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Common collection<\/strong> :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Part of a<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"> <a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec.ca\/nouvelles\/actualites\/details\/importance-de-la-culture-a-lecole-le-gouvernement-investit-50-m-pour-assurer-une-place-de-choix-a-la-culture-quebecoise-dans-toutes-les-ecoles-36357\">major ministerial investment over 5 years (article in French only).<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Composition of the collection:<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/projetbiblius.ca\/en\/the-common-collection\/#portrait_collection_eng\"> over 400 titles, 85% of which are from Quebec<\/a><\/span> (authors, illustrators, publishers)<\/li>\n<li>Offered by the MEQ :\n<ul>\n<li>to the public school network since September 2021<\/li>\n<li>to First Nations schools not under agreement since February 2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Local collections<\/strong> :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Since the beginning of the 2022 school year, <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>50%<\/strong> more digital books<\/span> are purchased monthly compared to 2021-2022.<\/li>\n<li>Since September 29, 2021, <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">more than <strong>$1,100,000<\/strong><\/span> have been invested schools.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Over<strong> 60,000<\/strong> titles<\/span> are offered on the <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/collectivites.leslibraires.ca\/scolaire\">virtual bookstore administered by Libraires ind\u00e9pendants du Qu\u00e9bec<\/a><\/span> (LIQ).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Loans:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>50%<\/strong> more monthly loans<\/span> in 2022-2023 than in 2021-2022.<\/li>\n<li>99% of all loans are still done by the public school network, but the numbers of users connecting to the platform is increasing each month in the private school network and in First Nations schools not under agreement.<\/li>\n<li>In 20 months, <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>79%<\/strong> of all loans<\/span> have been from the common collection.<\/li>\n<li>Increase in loans from local collections in this 2nd year:\n<ul>\n<li>13% of all loans in 2021-2022<\/li>\n<li>27% of all loans in 2022-2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Portrait of the 2021-2022 school year<\/strong>: see<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/projetbiblius.ca\/en\/overview-2021-2022\/\"> this infographic<\/a><\/span> that was published last fall. A similar snapshot of the 2022-2023 school year will be produced next fall.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>School libraries <\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The Biblius project was part of measure 17 of the <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.education.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/current-initiatives\/digital-action-plan\/digital-action-plan\/\">Digital Action Plan for Education and Higher Education<\/a>.<\/span> The Minist\u00e8re de l&#8217;\u00c9ducation du Qu\u00e9bec (MEQ) committed to &#8220;provide access to ebooks in school libraries and encourage the shift from library to learning commons\u201d. The project is now continuing in collaboration with the Direction des ressources didactiques, des biblioth\u00e8ques scolaires et des services de l&#8217;enseignement \u00e0 distance (DRDBSSED, MEQ).<\/p>\n<p>By providing access to digital books, Quebec school libraries are adding an important component to their service offering.
